The strategic voice for SEND families in Tameside

Tameside release new SEND Strategy

Local schools, parent carer forums, and a range of community partners have been thanked for their contribution to the co-production of Tameside Council’s refreshed Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Strategy for 2025-2028.

The updated strategy builds on progress made since the last OFSTED/CQC SEND inspection and outlines a shared vision for inclusive, high-quality support for children and young people with SEND.

Developed jointly with families and professionals, the new strategy draws on inspection findings as well as lived experience from within the community. It has also been agreed with the Department for Education and the SEND Local Area Improvement Board, marking a significant step forward in strengthening local SEND provision.

The Tameside Umbrella Parent Carer Forum, welcomes the strategy and looks forward to continuing as a strategic partner. The refreshed approach by Tameside Council is positive news, as it emphasises their commitment to supporting efforts to rebuild trust with families, ensuring that children, young people and their families are heard and able to play an active, practical role in shaping SEND services.

The TUPCF will share regular updates on how parents of children with SEND can get involved in the ongoing co-production of local services. Follow our Facebook page and become a member for the latest information and opportunities to participate.
